Ga. Firefighters Rescue Marine Stuck in Tree

    ROME, Ga. -- A United States Marine was rescued after his parachute got stuck in a tree during a training exercise, according to the Rome Fire Department. Marines were training at Berry College in Rome, a Berry College spokesman said. The victim got caught in some trees around 1 p.m. after his parachute was blown by the wind, the spokesman said.

    A United States Marine was rescued after his parachute got stuck in a tree during a training exercise, according to the Rome Fire Department.

    Marines were training at Berry College in Rome, a Berry College spokesman said. The victim got caught in some trees around 1 p.m. after his parachute was blown by the wind, the spokesman said.

    Firefighters arrived on the scene with a ladder tall enough to reach him, the spokesman said. After they got him down, he was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, firefighters said.

    Firefighters said it is unclear if the Marine was injured, but a Berry College spokesman said he did not look hurt.
