2 Hurt When Car Hits Mo. Gas Pump

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two people were hurt when a car hit a gasoline pump at a gas station in the 2300 block of Independence Boulevard on Monday afternoon. The pump exploded into flames just before 3 p.m. Firefighters quickly put out the fire. Police told KMBC's Marcus Moore that two women were arguing, tried to ram another car, but lost control and hit the gas pump. One woman fled the scene. She was later taken into custody.

Two people were hurt when a car hit a gasoline pump at a gas station in the 2300 block of Independence Boulevard on Monday afternoon.

The pump exploded into flames just before 3 p.m. Firefighters quickly put out the fire.

Police told KMBC's Marcus Moore that two women were arguing, tried to ram another car, but lost control and hit the gas pump.

One woman fled the scene. She was later taken into custody.

Two bystanders were burned. They were taken to hospitals with what are described as serious injuries.

A 3-month-old child was pulled from the car that hit the pump. The child was not hurt.
