A 40-year-old man died after being trapped between a stack of steel plates and a rolling crane Thursday night in north Portland.
The man suffered fatal injuries in the incident at Oregon Steel Mills on Swift Court near the St. Johns neighborhood.
Portland firefighters and employees of Oregon Steel Mills then moved several tons of steel plates as medics provided life support to the trapped man, officials said.
