COBB COUNTY, Ga. --

The covered bridge in Cobb County reopened Friday morning after a driver smashed a truck into the entrance of the bridge and then got his too tall U-Haul truck wedged tight inside the historic bridge.

The driver and two passengers were trapped inside the truck for almost two hours. Firefighters cut the men out of the truck.

Video from the crash scene showed the 137 year old Concord Covered Bridge over Nickajack Creek sustained some exterior damage.

Two of the men in the truck suffered serious injuries, according to a friend.

"He's got six broken vertebrea and 18 stitches in his head," said Darreon Dilligard, a friend of the driver.

Dilligard added that a second man in the truck suffered neck injuries.

The injuries to the third man were minor.

Cobb County crews shut down Concord Road on both sides of the bridge until 7 a.m. Friday.
