Fla. Responders Rescue 7-Foot Gator From Drain

MIAMI -- Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pulled a 7-foot, 150-pound alligator from a storm drain in a residential neighborhood Friday afternoon. Residents near 109th Avenue and Southwest 64th Street told Local 10's Rob Schmitt they called fire rescue after they heard a splashing sound coming from the drain. Firefighters slipped a noose around the gator's neck and pulled it out of the drain. The gator, which residents said was stuck inside the drain for two days, was not injured.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pulled a 7-foot, 150-pound alligator from a storm drain in a residential neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Residents near 109th Avenue and Southwest 64th Street told Local 10's Rob Schmitt they called fire rescue after they heard a splashing sound coming from the drain.

Firefighters slipped a noose around the gator's neck and pulled it out of the drain.

The gator, which residents said was stuck inside the drain for two days, was not injured.

A trapper released it into the Everglades.

Residents said it's common to see gators in the area,especially in a canal behind thier homes. But they had never seen one this big.
