GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) -- Eleven children were sent to the hospital Tuesday for possible chlorine exposure after a pool filtration system apparently malfunctioned at the Burning Tree Country Club, police and hospital officials said.
The children, nine girls and two boys ranging in age from 8 to 11, were treated at Greenwich Hospital and released, said George Pawlush, a hospital spokesman.
Police said they were called to the country club shortly before 10 a.m. Two boys were vomiting and other youths reported possible effects of exposure to chlorine.
The incident appears to have been caused by air in the filtration system, police said. The exact cause was being investigated and the filtration system was being repaired to prevent future problems, police said.
