Victim Transported To Hospital With Second-Degree Burns
HOUSTON -- An off-duty firefighter was called a hero after he risked his life to rescue a neighbor from a burning home Sunday in northwest Houston.

A home in the 1800 block of Chantilly near Rosslyn went up in flames early Sunday morning.

A neighbor saw the flames and ran to get help from Joe Reyes, a firefighter who lived a few doors down the road.

The Houston Fire Department said it will recommend Reyes for a medal of valor for his actions.

Officials said the victim Reyes rescued was rushed to a hospital with second-degree burns.
