BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (AP) -- A carbon monoxide leak prompted the evacuation of a hockey rink during a college game late Saturday, and at least 20 people were treated at hospitals, officials said.

Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, said Officer Tod Gautreau of the Burrillville Police Department.

Harrisville Fire Chief Mark St. Pierre said officials were called to the rink after several people complained of dizziness and nausea. Emergency responders gave victims oxygen at the scene and evacuated the building.

The injured included several hockey players from Bryant College. It was not immediately known who they were playing.

It was unclear how many people were hospitalized. Fire officials said they transported 22 people to two area hospitals. The hospitals said they were treating a total of 27 people. Many patients were being released and none of them were in serious condition, the hospitals said.

The leak at the rink at Burrillville High School was believed to have been caused by a heater, Gautreau said.

A phone message left at Levy Community Rink early Sunday was not immediately returned.
