Pa. Firefighters Rescue Father, Sons From Ledge
Moon firefighters rescued a father and his two sons from a ledge overlooking the Sewickley Bridge this afternoon.
Mark Koeppen, of Fairfax, Va., said he and his sons began hiking above University Boulevard this afternoon because they heard some of the trails in the area had a nice view of the bridge.
About an hour and a half or two hours in, after they had begun to slip around in the mud, Mr. Koeppen realized he couldn't go any further with his 6- and 8-year-old sons. He called 911 and, about a half hour or 45 minutes later, firefighters arrived and escorted them to safety.
Aside from a few bruises, no one was injured.
Sgt. Doug Busch of the Moon police department said it was a "good day" because no one was injured.
