STREAMWOOD, Ill. -- Streamwood firefighters have rescued a man who fell through an ice-covered pond near Glenbrook Elementary School.
According to the Streamwood Police Department, the 43-year-old man was attempting to ride his bike across the pond around 3:40 p.m. when the ice cracked, plunging him underwater.
Streamwood firefighters wearing 'Mustang Suits' -- designed to aid buoyancy and prevent hypothermia -- reached the man and pulled him to safety in less than 10 minutes, according to the Streamwood Fire Department.
The man was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with non-life-threatening injuries.
