Firefighters used airbags to lift a vehicle and free a woman trapped under it Sunday morning, according to a Turkeytown Volunteer Fire Department line officer.
Mark Penska, first assistant, said a woman was thrown from a vehicle after it hit a guiderail in a construction zone on Interstate 70 near the Smithton exit in South Huntingdon. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest over a ditch around 7 a.m.
Penska said although the full weight of the vehicle was not on the woman, she could not free herself. Firefighters used airbags to lift the vehicle off the woman, he said.
The woman was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital. State police at Belle Vernon did not release details, including the woman's identity or condition.
