ARLINGTON, Texas -- Firefighters Tuesday morning rescued a General Motors worker whose foot became pinned under a piece of equipment on the assembly line.

Firefighters were called to GM's Arlington truck manufacturing plant about 6:18 a.m., said Battalion Chief Bill McQuatters.

With help from plant employees, McQuatters said, fire crews used a forklift to push the equipment off a female worker. The woman was taken by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

"It looked a lot worse initially than it ended up being," McQuatters said.

The plant is investigating the incident, said Donna McLallen, a company spokeswoman.
