Mass. Head-On Crash Sends Five People to Hospital

Five people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a head-on collision at the intersection of Station Avenue and Wood Road on Sunday afternoon.

Dec. 31--SOUTH YARMOUTH -- Five people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a head-on collision at the intersection of Station Avenue and Wood Road on Sunday afternoon.

An off-duty Yarmouth firefighter was first on the scene at around 2:30 p.m. when a Volkswagen SUV slammed into a BMW sedan at the intersection, said Yarmouth Fire Department Capt. Chuck Talbott. Three rescue vehicles and a fire engine arrived by 2:34 p.m. to take the five who were injured in the crash to the hospital. Talbott said none of their injuries was life-threatening.

Yarmouth police hadn't yet finished their investigation and couldn't provide additional information Sunday night.
