Oct. 12--A woman was rescued from her vehicle by bystanders at the Ocean City Yacht Club Friday night after she drove her car into the bay.

Ocean City Fire Capt. Gary Green said the woman entered the bay in her car at Battersea Road and Bay Avenue Friday night. The vehicle floated down the water to the yacht club on 100 Bay Avenue and a bystander was able to pull her out of the vehicle through an open window, he said.

The woman was transported to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, Green said. It is believed she did not suffer life threatening injuries, he said.

Authorities are still at the scene attempting to tow the car from the water, Green said. Police refused to comment on the matter Friday night.
