March 11--ALBANY -- Firefighters rescued three people from a fire Monday that damaged a home at 69 Adirondack St.
Fire Chief Warren Abriel said firefighters found a woman in her bedroom who wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse. He said emergency responders worked to achieve a "cardiac reversal" at the scene until she was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital. She was breathing but still unconscious Monday afternoon.
The chief said the woman, who suffered burns on 80 percent of her body and to her airways, is in critical condition.
Abriel said a man in the home passed a child out of the back window before crawling out of the window himself. He suffered a "large laceration on his thigh," Abriel said. The man was taken to Albany Med.
The flames caused extensive damage to the home. Firefighters had to cut through the roof to control the spread of the blaze.
The firefighters made quick work extinguishing the flames at the one-story ranch house, getting it under control within about 20 minutes, said Abriel.
