A fire captain with the Eugene Springfield Fire Department was able to save a woman threatening to jump from a window with a one-handed grab from the tip of an aerial ladder.
According to a story published by the local newspaper, The Register-Guard, Capt. Chris Paskett climbed the aerial which was placed just below were the woman was hanging out a second-story apartment complex window on Saturday.
As the woman yelled for the ladder to get away, she started pushing on it with her feet, according to the newspaper. It was at that point Paskett pushed the woman back into the window with one hand on the ladder.
The woman was held down by Paskett in the apartment just long enough for police officers to enter the apartment where she was taken into custody and transported for treatment, the paper reported.
