LA Firefighters Stung by Bees Rescuing Man Trapped by Tree

Nov. 27, 2017
Firefighters were attacked by bees as they tried to free a man trapped by a fallen tree.

A group of firefighters dressed up in their fire gear in Zachary on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't a blaze they were battling. It was a swarm of bees.

Chaneyville Fire Department and Zachary Fire Department rushed to Tucker Road just after noon to help a man trapped under a large tree about 36 to 40 inches in diameter, according to a Facebook post by the Zachary Fire Department.

As they unloaded chainsaws and prepared a tractor to start the rescue operation, bees starting stinging the firefighters, forcing them to suit up.

The man, who was alert the whole time, was rescued and taken to a hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

"This is one of those calls that members train for but hardly ever respond to," the Zachary Fire Department post read. "Training paid off again!"
