San Diego Firefighters Rescue Tree Trimmer Stuck 30 Feet Up

Crews used an aerial to safely reach a tree trimmer who became stuck upside down in a palm tree for nearly 30 minutes at a home in San Carlos.

A tree trimmer working on a palm tree in San Carlos got stuck about 30 feet in the air and had to be rescued by San Diego firefighters early Monday, officials said.

Firefighters were called around 8:15 a.m. to a home on Dicenza Lane near Winding Creek Drive. Crews worked for around 20 minutes to free the man from the tree, officials said.

The man, who was in his 40s, was treated by medics and taken to a hospital.

"His main complaints were dizziness and nausea — possibly from being upside down for a period of time," said San Diego fire spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz.

Muñoz said it was good the man was using safety gear when he became trapped in the tree. "Without safety gear, he might have fallen to the ground," she said.
