Watch NC Firefighters' High-Angle Rescue of Injured Worker
North Carolina firefighters performed a high-angle rescue of a worker who was injured atop a construction site Thursday.
Charlotte Fire Department crews were called to the building site at about 11 a.m. in the city's South End neighborhood after a worker suffered an unspecified injury, WBTV-TV reports. Footage from WSOC-TV's news helicopter showed the injured worker on a construction platform high off the ground, and firefighters needed to be hoisted up to the location by a crane.
On the platform, the worker was put on a stretcher and lowered to safety. The rescue took 18 firefighters about 30 minutes to perform, and the worker was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
According to WSOC, the worker's injuries were related to a fall. It's not clear, however, what caused the fall.
