Orange County, Anaheim and Orange firefighters worked to hoist the man out of a storm drain that he had been trapped in for four days.

Firefighters on Monday morning, Oct. 5, rescued a man who had been stuck in an Orange storm drain for four days, authorities said.

It was around 7:30 a.m. when a passerby heard someone cry for help in the 2800 block of North Main Street and called 9-1-1, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

Firefighters from the OCFA, Anaheim and Orange worked to hoist the man out of the confined space, said OCFA Capt. Thanh Nguyen.

He was conscious and alert while rescued, Nguyen said, and firefighters learned he’d been trapped for four days.

Details about how he ended up in the storm drain, near the MainPlace Mall, or why he was unable to make his way out were not immediately available.

The man was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Nguyen said.
