Oklahoma City firefighters responded to an industrial accident at a construction company for a worker that had fallen into an asphalt silo.

The worker was performing maintenance on the silo and went missing, prompting a fellow employee to contact rescue personnel.

Multiple fire companies were on scene within minutes of the initial call to start the rescue efforts. After a size-up, fire department rescue operations transitioned to a recovery operation. Due to the location of the victim, multiple options were discussed for his removal from the silo.

T.J. Campbell Construction Co. officials said in a news release that an 18-year-old worker fell approximately 30 feet while performing maintenance on an asphalt silo that can reach up to 300 degrees.
