When a pup named Blue went missing, her frantic family searched for days.

As it turns out, she was still in the house -- sort of. Blue had fallen into a hidden well beneath a crawl space.

“They came in, they straight up told me if you want, the only way to get her is we gotta cut a hole in the floor and before he could even finish the sentence I said, ‘Yeah let’s do it. Let’s cut a hole in the floor,’” Blue’s owner, Jayla Hyden told WKRC.

Liberty Township firefighters immediately came up with a plan that involved the Butler County’s technical rescue team.

As the smallest. Liberty Township Firefighter/paramedic Cody Helmuth lowered into the well -- where she was met by a very happy Blue.

“She was so excited to see me down there, [it was] hard to get her harness on and get her rigged up to where she'd safely come up."

Once back with her family, she was checked out by a vet, and is OK.

After that, she was back playing in the snow.

She fell into a hidden well beYou could hear her in our dining room as loud as could be,” Hyden said.

That’s when they discovered a hidden well beneath the crawl space.

“There’s a piece of wood that covers it,” Hyden said. “Our guess is she was just exploring, stepped over that piece of wood and fell straight in.”
