Dec. 27, 2018
Tallahassee firefighters saved a man who was trapped 40 feet in the air after a fully extended boom truck caught fire.

Florida firefighters rescued a worker trapped 40 feet in the air when the lift he was on caught fire Thursday morning.

Crews arrived at scene just before 10:45 a.m. to find the boom truck fully extended and on fire, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department. They immediately began to extinguish the blaze — careful to avoid multiple power lines around the area — while a ladder apparatus was set up to rescue the worker.

Eventually, the fire was put out, and firefighters were able to grab the man from the bucket and bring him safely to the ground.
