SAN DIEGO—Firefighters saved two construction workers after their lift stalled outside of a window on the 42nd floor of a downtown building, a San Diego fire official said.
Someone called 9-1-1 about 9:40 a.m. to report that two men were stuck on a broken lift at a building under construction at 14th Street and Island Avenue, said San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz.
The fire department's technical rescue team made its way to the roof and used a rope system to lower down to the trapped men. They managed to remove a window at the 43rd Floor and hoisted the construction workers to safety, Muñoz said.
Both men were safe by about 11 a.m. No one was injured.
