Tuscaloosa crews rescued two construction workers who were operating a manlift at Bryant-Denny Stadium after beams fell on the rig, trapping the pair.

TUSCALOOSA, AL—Two construction workers participating in the $92.5 million renovation of Bryant-Denny Stadium were hospitalized Saturday when two beams fell on a manlift they were operating, according to Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue spokesperson Holly Whigham.

Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at Bryant-Denny Stadium, home of the Alabama football team, about 5 p.m. Saturday, Whigham said in a press release provided to the Montgomery Advertiser late Saturday evening.

Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue assisted in the extrication of the two trapped construction workers, who were both taken to the nearby DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. There was no update on either the severity or the condition of the two workers Saturday evening.

"A workplace accident has occurred at Bryant-Denny Stadium. We understand two workers with a subcontractor were transported to the hospital by emergency responders," said Monica Watts, the University of Alabama's associate vice president for communications in a statement released Saturday night. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. Wallace Wade Avenue and 8th Street at 11th Avenue have been closed this evening as a precaution."
