New York Firefighters Free Victim From Crash
Firefighters extricated one person from the scene of a crash in Mendon on July 25.
The Honeoye Falls Fire Department and Honeoye Falls-Mendon Ambulance were dispatched to a vehicle into a tree on Route 65 near Williams Road at 5:10 p.m.
Upon arrival they found a southbound pickup had struck a pole and then went air borne hitting a tree with the left front side of the vehicle. The lone occupant was trapped.
Honeoye Falls Fire Chief Paul Churnetski requested the Rush Fire Department's heavy rescue to the scene for the use of their extrication rams.
The Monroe County Medical Director, Dr. Jeremy Cushman, assisted the medics with patient care at the scene.
Firefighters removed the left door and pushed the dashboard up and off of the victim. The firewall was also pushed forward and extrication was completed in less than 30 minutes.
The victim was transported to the trauma center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
