A parking garage at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia partially collapsed Wednesday, leaving one person dead and at least two others missing, according to news reports.

The seven-story parking garage, at 3000 Grays Ferry Ave,. was under construction when it partially collapsed around 2 p.m., Fox 29 in Philadelphia reported.

A construction worker was taken to a hospital where he later died, and two other workers were trapped in the debris, CBS News Philadelphia reported.

Fire officials told local media that a search and rescue operation was underway, but did not say how many others might still be missing.

Fire Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson said the search and rescue would be a ‘protracted’ operation because the structure needed to be stablized before rescue efforts could continue.

A witness on her lunch break at the time told CBS News Philadelphia the collapse “sounded like a train falling.”

“It was just a whole bunch of noise, and then I turned around, and there was a whole bunch of debris,” she said. “You just see everybody running over, all the construction workers. Looked up and you see the crane halfway up, and it started to come back down. But there was nothing on the crane.”
