NY FFs Dodged Bats to Rescue Man Trapped in Mine
Firefighters are used to performing rescues in various conditions, but Brewster crews battled bats.
Five people who went exploring the sealed mine tried for some time to help a man who was trapped on a lower ledge before calling for help.
Two firefighters who were lowered into the mine had to dodge bats to reach him. Other firefighters set up pulleys for a high angle rope rescue operation.
The man was not hurt. WGMD reported.
