June 18--COLOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Two people were hurt following a car versus cement truck crash Tuesday afternoon in Berrien County.
According to a release from the North Berrien Fire Rescue Department, crews were called at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday to Hagar Shore Road near North Shore Drive in Coloma Township. When rescue crews arrived, they found a car and cement truck had collided head-on resulting in the passenger car resting on its side with heavy front end damage.
Firefighters were able to quickly rescue a small child from the back seat who appeared to suffer no injuries. The driver and a passenger in the front seat were trapped for more than 90 minutes while firefighters worked to free their legs, which were pinned under the dashboard.
Both patients were conscious and alert following the rescue, according to firefighters.
The crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.
