CT Firefighters Free Trapped Driver in Overturned Truck

Westport and Fairfield firefighters responded to the tractor-trailer accident Thursday near the border of the two towns

A truck driver was injured after their tractor-trailer overturned on northbound I-95 near the Westport/Fairfield town line on Thursday morning.

The rollover crash closed the right northbound lane between Exits 18 and 19 for more than an hour just as the morning commute was beginning.

The first arriving Westport firefighters found the on its truck on its side and one occupant trapped in the cab. Units also reported a small fuel additive leak.

The person was extricated by Westport and Fairfield Fire Departments and transported to a local hospital.

The crash was reported at 5:24 a.m.

More than three hours later units continue to operate on scene with the State Police, the state departments of transportation and environmental protection and private contractors for clean-up.

As of 8:45 a.m., there was a more than three-mile delay northbound between Exits 18 and 19.
