At Least Six Injured in Crash at NYC Outdoor Dining Area

March 5, 2021
A two-car collision on Manhattan's East Side sent one of the vehicles barreling into an outdoor dining space, and at least two children were among those hospitalized.

Six people — including at least two children — were sent to the hospital Friday after a vehicle careened into an outdoor dining area in Midtown, officials said.

The chaos began when two cars crashed into each other near the corner of E. 49th St. and Second Ave around 8:45 a.m., cops said.

The collision sent one of the vehicle flying into an outdoor dining area, sending large pieces of wood and debris across the intersection, video posted on the Citizen app shows.

It was not immediately clear if the dining area was open at the time of the crash.

Medics rushed six people to nearby hospitals. At least two of the victims were children, according to preliminary reports.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
