COHASSET, MA — A 24-year-old Scituate man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after getting pinned under an SUV in a crash involving his motorcycle.

Cohasset police said the Scituate man was taken to South Shore Hospital and then later to a Boston-area hospital. The crash happened at about 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of Route 3A and Sohier Street, police said in a press release.

The Cohasset Fire Department used hydraulic tools to lift the SUV off the man.

The SUV driver, a 58-year-old male from Dorchester, was taken to South Shore Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Cohasset police said the crash is still under investigation by State Police and their department. There have been no charges filed yet. Police said speed doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash.

A stretch of Route 3A was closed for about three hours Tuesday night while police investigated the crash.

Hingham police and firefighters helped deal with the crash and traffic.
