Driver Rescued after Car Travels Under Box Truck in NY

East Syracuse, N.Y. — One person was hospitalized Saturday morning after a car collided with a truck in East Syracuse.
Around 9:32 a.m., a blue sedan collided with a truck at the intersection of James Street and West Avenue, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.
The sedan was wedged underneath the truck. The driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle, according to dispatches.
Firefighters began extricating the driver around 9:45 a.m., according to dispatchers. It took crews around 15 minutes to pull the driver from the car.
The driver was bleeding from the head and was strapped to a backboard. Once he was out of the car, paramedics and firefighters rushed the driver to the ambulance.
DeWitt police were not immediately available to comment on the nature of the driver’s injuries or the cause of the crash.
