Temple firefighters pulled the elderly driver from his truck after he was swept downstream while trying to navigate a low water crossing in Troy.

Texas firefighters rescued an elderly driver who became trapped in his pickup truck Wednesday afternoon when he was swept downstream from a low water crossing, according to the Temple Fire Department.

The Troy Fire Department called in Temple firefighters to make the swift water rescue. The driver was stuck in his truck, which was about 6 feet from the bank.

Technicians attached a life jacket to the driver and pulled him from the truck, the department said. Crews then put a ladder between the bank and the truck to create a path to land.

The driver was conscious and speaking to emergency medical technicians following the rescue, the department added.
