SPRINGFIELD, MA—A woman lost control of her car while backing up and ended up crashing into her neighbor’s swimming pool Sunday morning.
The 91-year-old driver was not injured. She was extricated from the vehicle without incident, said Fire Capt. Brian Tetreault, commander of the Fire Department’s Arson and Bomb Squad.
The crash occurred just before 9:30 a.m. when the woman was backing up her 2003 Mercury Sable at 42 Weymouth St., he said.
She lost control of the car and backed up across the street between two houses. The car then crashed through bushes and a wooden fence before ending up in the swimming pool, Tetreault said.
Springfield firefighters will remain on the scene until the car can be towed from the pool, he said.
