Washington firefighters rescued a tuber who was caught in a fast-moving river current Wednesday.

Spokane fire crews arrived at the scene at about 4:30 p.m. and found the man in the river around 25 feet from the bank, KXLY-TV reports. The force of the river's fast-moving current had pinned the tuber to partially submerged trees.

Because the current's speed ruled out a shore-based rescue, firefighters used a boat to reach the man. The man, who had been inner tubing with a friend near the shore when he became caught in the current, was not wearing a life jacket and could not swim, according to KXLY.

Paramedics evaluated his injuries once he safely reached land, but he was not taken to the hospital.
