The fire in the 4200 block of East First Street near Haltom Road was reported at about 5:45 a.m. Fifteen units responded, according to the Fire Department's online record.
Matthew Goode sustained a leg fracture when he fell from a ladder after a piece of roof collapsed and struck him, Hardeman said. About 90 minutes later, firefighter Courtney Pennington's shoulder was dislocated when a section of floor collapsed and he fell into the basement.
