Texas Firefighters Hurt at Vacant Farmhouse Fire

-- Nov. 24--FORT WORTH -- Two firefighters were injured Wednesday morning while putting out a one-alarm blaze at a vacant farmhouse near the Haltom City border. Both were treated at a hospital and released, Tim Hardeman, a Fire Department spokesman, wrote in a news release. The fire in the 4200 block of East First Street near Haltom Road was reported at about 5:45 a.m. Fifteen units responded, according to the Fire Department's online record.

Matthew Goode sustained a leg fracture when he fell from a ladder after a piece of roof collapsed and struck him, Hardeman said. About 90 minutes later, firefighter Courtney Pennington's shoulder was dislocated when a section of floor collapsed and he fell into the basement.
