A Normal firefighter injured in a Friday night fire has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Firefighters were called to the home of Rodger Jenkins at 905 Randall Drive at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Jenkins escaped without injury, but one firefighter lost consciousness inside the burning house and had to be carried out.

He was taken to Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal where he was treated and released.

The upstairs floor of the residence sustained heavy water and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but damage was estimated at $115,000.

Officials believe the fire probably started in the northeast corner of the house and spread across the second floor. About two dozen firefighters, including an engine company from Bloomington Fire Department, fought the fire for nearly an hour.

The property is insured and Jenkins received assistance from the American Red Cross of the Heartland.
