Two Eden Prairie firefighters sustained bumps and bruises and a third suffered a possible broken ankle.
Three firefighters were slightly injured and a home in Eden Prairie sustained about $150,000 in damage Sunday as a result of a fire that started in the home's garage.

The Eden Prairie Fire Department said the three firefighters were treated at Fairview Southdale Hospital Sunday night and released.

Two of the firefighters sustained bumps and bruises when part of the garage roof collapsed.

The third firefighter suffered a possible broken ankle, said Fire Chief George Esdensen.

The chief said the fire started shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday when discarded ashes in a trash can lit the garage on fire.

He said dozens of firefighters from a number of departments helped fight the fire.

The home was deemed uninhabitable and the family that lives there had to leave, the chief said Sunday night.

The fire was under control within about an hour. No other structures were damaged, the chief said.

Esdensen said discarded ashes can reignite days or even a week after being discarded.
