Three firefighters received minor injuries while fighting a plant fire in Kinston Wednesday morning, according to WNCT-TV.

Crews responded to the blaze shortly after 6 a.m. at the Kinston Fibers plant on Highway 70.

Assistant Fire Chief Don Crawford told the news station that the majority of the fire is within the center of the plant.

Crews are currently working to remove cotton bails from the facility to get closer to the source of the fire.

The plant has been cited for several fire code violation and there have been other fires there in the past.

"Anytime you have a fire in a commercial building more than once in becomes a concern but our code enforcement section has worked diligently with the property owners and we've had good success with property owners here to eliminate hazards that we have found," Crawford said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
