Tenn. Firefighter Hit by Hose Coupling Goes Home
A Bradley County firefighter who was hit in the head after coupling from a fire hose failed during a routine test Saturday has been released from the hospital, according to The Cleveland Daily Banner.
Firefighter Richard Hall, 19, was treated at the scene before flown to Erlanger Medical Center after the incident occurred just before 10 a.m.
He sustained a skull fracture and was admitted to the ICU for 24-hour observation and was and was moved to a regular room on Sunday.
Fire Chief Dewey Woody told the newspaper that Hall was released from the hospital on Tuesday and is in good spirits.
Hall was wearing his full turnout gear when he was hit; something Woody said spared him from further injury.
"He was wearing his safety helmet and safety goggles, which no doubt prevented an even more serious injury."
