A firefighter was injured and a family Chihuahua was killed in a mobile-home fire Tuesday on Tucson's northwest side.
The firefighter fell through the floorboards of the house in the 2700 block of West Diamond Street.
He was taken to Northwest Medical Center where he was treated for an ankle injury, said Katy Heiden, a Northwest Fire spokeswoman.
The fire, which started at about 7:15 a.m., quickly spread through the home and into its attic space before being put out about 8 a.m., she said.
The residents, a man and two adult children, were safely evacuated, Heiden said.
Damage was estimated at $60,000, she said.
A sinkhole formed under a nearby fire hydrant used to put out the fire, and North Davis Avenue between Ruthrauff and Curtis roads had to be closed for repairs, she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
