A firefighter was struck by lightning in Greenup County on Wednesday, according to WSAZ-TV.

Crews responded after reports of structures on fire near Greenup County High School in Lloyd at approximately 8:52 p.m.

The injured firefighter was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lloyd Volunteer Firefighter Brent Fairchild told the news station.

Crews face another challenge as a thunderstorm dropped quarter-size hail in the area around the same time of the fire.
