Chicago Firefighter Injured in Vacant House Fire

-- Sept. 06--A firefighter was injured while battling a house fire in the South Shore neighborhood, officials said. The fire was reported at a vacant 2-1/2 story frame home on the 8000 block of South South Shore Drive around noon, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight. The fire, which broke out on the second floor, was under control by 12:39 p.m., Knight said.

The fire, which broke out on the second floor, was under control by 12:39 p.m., Knight said.

The firefighter was taken in fair-to-serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Knight said. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
