A Columbus firefighter was burned after becoming trapped while battling a suspicious blaze early Monday morning, according to WSYX-TV.
Crews responded to the house fire on Perdue Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m. and believe someone was still inside when they arrived.
The fire intensified as firefighters reached the second floor.
A firefighter, who has not been identified, was trapped in a bedroom.
He was able to escape the flames by exiting through a window and down a ladder fellow firefighters extended to rescue him.
He suffered first degree burns on his neck and the side of his face and was rushed to OSU Medical Center.
Crews discovered that there was no one inside the home.
Officials expect the damages to cost upwards of $40,000.
