Condition of Injured Michigan Firefighter Improves

A Flint firefighter critically injured after bailing out of a blaze Friday night was listed in good condition on Monday, according to The Flint Journal.

Firefighter Gerald Hunt is recovering at Hurley Medical Center and is being treated for lung tissue damage, second-degree burns and fractured ribs.

Officials said he has been alert and conscious since being hospitalized.

Crews responded to the fire on Broadway at approximately 11:20 p.m.

Six other firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, burns, a back injury and electrocution.

The initial call for the fire indicated that there was a possible entrapment, but the man who lives in the home was not found inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
