A Shepherdstown firefighter is recovering after sustaining burns after he fell through the floor of a burning trailer on Monday, according to WHAG-TV.
Firefighter Daryn Dymond was making sure no one was inside the trailer when the incident occurred. A Mayday call was made and his comrades sprung into action and quickly removed him from the fire.
Dymond suffered second-degree burns, mostly to his left leg, and was transported to Winchester Medical Center where officials said he is in good spirits.
Crews responded to the fire at approximately 11 a.m. to find close to half of the trailer engulfed in flames.
"Approximately 40 to 50 percent of the trailer was involved with fire through the roof on that 40 to 50 percent," Assistant Chief Craig Simpson told the news station.
Simpson said that Dymond is part of the volunteer department's live-in program and very committed.
