Md. Firefighter, Two Civilians Injured in 'Suspicious' Blaze

A Prince George's County firefighter and two civilians were injured in a house fire on Tuesday, according to a news release from the fire department.Crews were alerted around 4:15 a.m. to 1400 block of Early Oaks Lane in Capitol Heights and found the one-and-a-half story single family home with heavy fire showing.Firefighters initiated an exterior attack and worked to protect nearby structures.Five adults and four children escaped the home before the units arrived.

Crews were alerted around 4:15 a.m. to 1400 block of Early Oaks Lane in Capitol Heights and found the one-and-a-half story single family home with heavy fire showing.

Firefighters initiated an exterior attack and worked to protect nearby structures.

Five adults and four children escaped the home before the units arrived.

An adult male and child sustained minor injuries and were transported to an local hospital.

A firefighter sustained a laceration to his hand and also was taken for the hospital for treatment. He was later released.

It took crews an hour and 15 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Officials said the fire appears to be "suspicious" in nature and are investigating the cause.
