DENVER -- A Denver firefighter was injured when the fire engine in which he was riding collided with a car at the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Washington Street Friday afternoon. According to Denver Fire Department spokesman Phil Champagne, the fire engine was traveling west on Colfax, approaching the intersection with Washington Street when an unidentified driver on Washington pulled into the intersection.

A Denver firefighter was injured when the fire engine in which he was riding collided with a car at the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Washington Street Friday afternoon.
According to Denver Fire Department spokesman Phil Champagne, the fire engine was traveling west on Colfax, approaching the intersection with Washington Street when an unidentified driver on Washington pulled into the intersection.
The fire engine was traveling with flashing red lights and a siren to another accident at the time of the crash at about 1:25 p.m.
A firefighter on the engine was transported to Denver Health Medical Center, complaining of back pain.
The woman in the car suffered minor injuries in the crash and was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
