HOUSTON --
A firefighter was injured while battling a house fire in Southwest Houston.
The fire broke out at a home on Quaildale near Quailmont about 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Smoke poured out of the roof while crews fought the flames.
One firefighter was hit in the head by a 2-by-4. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and was expected to recover.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
